Michael, independent developer. I built ToggleHosts because I kept losing afternoons to hosts file changes that were already saved. One person, one product, and I answer every email myself.
More about the project →No. ToggleHosts changes the local hosts file on your machine. Only your computer then resolves the domain to the selected environment: neither the DNS zone nor what visitors see changes.
ToggleHosts prepares a local preview: an environment maps domains to the IP of the version you need to test. You review the diff, apply changes in a controlled way, flush DNS cache, and keep a backup so you can return to the previous state.
